Camry Is Back on Consumer Reports’ List After Crash Tests
We hope manufacturers will continue to incorporate front crash prevention, developing more robust systems and adding them to more trim levels or better yet, making them standard equipment. Poor, Marginal Sales of the Camry, Toyotas flagship model, rose 1.3 percent this year through November to 378,520, staying more than 40,000 units ahead of its closest competitor, Honda Motor Co.s Accord, and on pace to sell more than 400,000 this year. While Camrys upgrade removes one shortcoming, Toyota has had mixed results in recent evaluations. The Prius v hybrid wagon and RAV4 sport-utility vehicle had poor results on the IIHS test, and its new Corolla got a passing marginal rating. Toyotas willingness to rapidly address the Camrys safety issues confirms its desire to maintain the models position as an industry benchmark, said Karl Brauer, senior industry analyst for Kelley Blue Book , in an e-mail. The new car market has never been more competitive, putting constant pressure on Camrys position as a sales leader. Braking Systems Toyotas U.S. sales unit is in Torrance, California . The companys American depositary receipts fell 1.9 percent to $118.71 at the close in New York and have added 27 percent this year.

Police said an officer who arrived at the scene saw two men assaulting another man, and as the officer attempted to break up the fight, he was pushed to the ground by the two men. Witnesses told police that a man in one car confronted a man in the other car as he tried to render aid to his two injured sons. An argument ensued and the man from the first vehicle, Richard Travis McCain, 21, of Severn, pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the victim. McCain’s relatives arrived in another vehicle, and a man, Gerald Javon Hall, 26, of Severn, jumped out and joined the assault, police said. The two men pushed the victim to the ground and punched him numerous times, police said. More officers arrived at the scene and were able to break up the fight. At that point, another relative of the suspects, Riquita Juanita McCain, 22, of Severn, started screaming at the victim’s family and hindered officers and Fire Department personnel, who were rendering aid to the accident victims, police said. Witnesses told police the man thought to have caused the accident allegedly walked over to the nearby Chevron gas station and purchased a six-pack of beer. The man was drinking beer when the officers found him, according to Bustos. It was unclear if the man was already under the influence of drugs or alcohol before the crash, authorities said. Bustos said the man, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was unknown as of Thursday afternoon. The driver has not been arrested because the crash is still under investigation, Bustos said.
