The Faith hitmaker survived near-fatal bout of pneumonia in 2011 and a horrific road accident near London last May (13), when he had to be airlifted to hospital after falling out of an open door of a moving vehicle. He has now revealed that after the string of bad luck he decided to quit his prolific cannabis habit, which at one point meant he was smoking 25 joints a day. In an interview with the Big Issue magazine, he says, “I’ve completely stopped. I have decided to change my life and I haven’t touched it for well over a year and a half now.” The star admits he has swapped getting high for watching U.K. soap opera Coronation Street: “I watch Corrie (Coronation Street) especially because it’s more of a laugh. Even when life is tragic on Coronation Street, it’s still funny.” Michael also talks about his eight-week stint behind bars in 2010 for crashing his car into a shop while under the influence of drugs, insisting his fans’ support got him through. He says, “I knew I deserved to go to prison. I just thought ‘get your head down and get on with it.’ I was pretty overwhelmed by the love and support they (fans) showed me.” Contactmusic
