BMW M4 Safety Car Debuts in MotoGP at Qatar Grand Prix
“The agency did not open an investigation in the GM Cobalt case and in many other cases, I believe, because they decided that unless they had everything handed to them on a silver platter in terms of evidence and information, they didn’t have to act. And that’s just completely incorrect,” Claybrook said in an interview. Sean Kane, a safety advocate and president of Safety Research & Strategies , has sued NHTSA four times in the past few years to get access to documents on incident investigations. He says the agency needs better practices and procedures. “There are no guidelines for what gets investigated and how the agency’s limited resources are allocated,” he said. Kane, who is often an expert witness for the plaintiff in accident cases, believes a “complete systematic shakeup” is needed to make NHTSA work better and smarter. The goal should be to find hidden safety problems, rather than “go from crisis to crisis,” he said. Lives are at stake There’s no way you can tell if your vehicle has a hidden safety defect. We rely on federal regulators to uncover these problems and force the manufacturers to fix them. Critics say the much-delayed GM Cobalt ignition switch recall is just one example that shows the watchdog isn’t doing its job. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is not so pleased with Teslas boasting. The NHTSA has issued a clarification regarding Teslas claim that the car has scored 5.4 out of 5 in the crash tests. Tesla also said that the Model S broke the machine used in NHTSAs roof crush test. The point was, however, not confirmed by NHTSA. According to NHTSA, it never rates a vehicle beyond five stars and do not rank or order vehicles within the star rating categories. According to the guidelines the carmakers can use only specific phrases like five -star or highest Government rating to describe the crash test result. John Voelcker at Green Cars said that this isnt the first time when Tesla has over boasted about its car model. Regardless of what has been publicized, the crash results of NHTSA tests have shown that the Model @ in an incredibly safe car. It has scored perfect five out of five in other tests too. It is the only car to receive a good rating in the side pole intrusion test. The model has a large front zone impact and a double bumper at the rear end provides an extra protection.

2015 Audi A3 Gets Top Safety Pick Plus Rating from IIHS [Video]
She saw a wall of fire outside her window. The car had flown into the air, hit a tree and split into several pieces. The rear portion grazed part of her window awning and slid through the front of her porch on the corner of 49th Street North and 34th Avenue North. It happened just before 4:30 a.m. The driver, who police have not identified but who they said may have been traveling south at over 100 miles per hour, died after he was thrown from the car. Pieces of his vehicle crushed Brown’s railing, sheared the front of a bush, shattered a window and then miraculously slid away from her house. As they slept, a single wall separated Brown and her husband from the flying car. “I do feel very fortunate that all he hit was the corner of the house and the porch,” Brown said. Wreckage from the crash covered more than a block of 49th Street North, from the spot where the driver hit a bus stop near 35th Avenue North to the yard of a dental office on 34th Avenue North, where the mangled front end landed. As she stepped outside in the dark, Brown scanned the debris that littered her yard and her neighbors’. “My eyes wandered to every little piece,” Brown said.
